Evaluations

We conduct comprehensive speech-language, feeding, and myofunctional evaluations to identify areas of need that could be addressed through formal therapy sessions. In most cases, a formal evaluation is required prior to beginning therapy services. If your child has participated in an evaluation within the past 6 months, we would be happy to review it to determine if additional information is needed.

Ignite is an out-of network provider, meaning we do not accept insurance. A superbill will be provided upon request if you would like to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.

Comprehensive Articulation Assessment

This assessment includes the use of parent interview, standardized and non-standardized tools, and language sampling to understand your child's speech intelligibility in connected speech. This assessment will look at:

Oral motor development
Speech sound development
Motor planning and coordination for speech

The initial assessment will take up to one hour. A full diagnostic report will be provided within 7 business days of the evaluation.

Comprehensive Speech and Language Assessment
Birth-3

This assessment includes the use of play-based and behavioral observations made by the clinician, parent interview, standardized and non-standardized tools, and language sampling. This assessment may look at the following areas:

Play development
Oral motor development
Speech sound development
Motor planning and coordination for speech
Receptive language skills
Expressive language skills
Pragmatic language skills

The initial assessment will take up to one hour, with parent/caregiver present. A full diagnostic report will be provided within 7 business days of the evaluation.

Comprehensive Speech and Language Assessment
Children 4+

This assessment includes the use of clinical play-based and behavioral observations, parent interview, standardized and non-standardized tools, and language sampling to support understanding your child’s foundations. This assessment may look at the following areas:

Oral motor development
Speech sound development
Motor planning and coordination for speech
Phonological processing
Receptive language skills
Expressive language skills
Pragmatic language/social skills

The initial assessment will take up to two hours. A full diagnostic report will be provided within 7 business days of the evaluation.

Comprehensive Feeding Evaluation
18 months+

This assessment includes the use of caregiver interview and behavioral observations made by the clinician during meal time. This assessment will look at the following areas:

Oral motor skills
Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs)
Oral sensory skills such as aversion, limited variety of food/picky eating, sensitivity to touch, textures, and flavors, excessive gagging, overstuffing
Chewing, drinking, and the oral phase of the swallow
Mealtime behaviors such as response to mealtime and the feeding environment, length of meal, parent/child interaction

The initial assessment will take up to one hour, with parent/caregiver present. A full diagnostic report will be provided within 7 business days of the evaluation.

Orofacial Myology Evaluation

This assessment includes the use of behavioral observations and caregiver/patient interview. Photographs and videos of facial/oral structures, oral functions, and general face and body alignment will be taken. A comprehensive orofacial examination will be completed which includes examination of:

Breathing/Respiration
Oral Habits
Craniofacial/orofacial appearance (ie: symmetry, posture, growth patterns) and function of related muscles and the jaw joint
Hard and soft tissues of the mouth
Occlusion
Tongue function, appearance, and rest position
Chewing, drinking, and the oral phase of the swallow
